I’ve become convinced that nothing we can say will matter

I’ve been building a brand new religion
trying to find the words I need to breathe just to keep myself alive.

Through this song I am building a pyramid. It is not glamorous work and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. It is hours of backbreaking labor in the hot sun— dragging stone mile after mile without apparent design. It is important to remember this when building pyramids, but it is not the most important thing. No. What we must never forget— what we must whisper to ourselves after thousands of years when we wake up alone—is that the tomb of the pharaoh is not the pharaoh. It is the hole we make to remind us that our gods will die.
